Summing It Up:
I can't even begin to explain this one, so I'll just use the official plot description: "A platoon of eagle & vultures attack the residence of a small town. Many people died. It's not known what caused the flying menace to attack. Two people managed to fight back, but will they survive Birdemic?"
Quick Thoughts:
First off, yes, this film is as terrible and hilarious as you have heard. In fact, it might possibly be the most ineptly made film to ever find a wide audience. However, unlike most of the bad films out there, this one plays it so straight, and takes itself so seriously, that it manages to be insanely watchable.
I've already written a full-on review of the film (in fact, if you watch the Birdemic theatrical trailer, you may even see a quote from that review), and I plan on doing the same for the official DVD and Blu-ray release, so I'm keeping this simple. If you are a fan of bad movies, then you need to see this film.
The acting is terrible, the dialog is written in the most mangled English imaginable, the visual effects look like they were done on a 100MHz PC using animated GIFs from Windows 95 clip art, and the story makes little to no sense. Add to that the worst audio production ever heard, camera work that may give you motion sickness, and some terribly choppy editing, and you might only begin to understand just how poorly made this film is. As I said in my previous review, Birdemic really must be seen to be believed. It is that bad.
However, like many other "awfsome" films like Troll 2, the whole thing comes off so silly that you can't help but keep watching. It's like a horrible car wreck on the side of the road; only more hilarious. And, that hilarity only increases when watching with a group of friends and some alcoholic beverages (or whatever other mind-altering substance you choose to imbibe). I've now seen it on about five separate occasions, and I'm sure there will be many more to come.
If I were to rate this film from a technical level, then I would easily rate it a 1 or below. However, since it has consistently entertained me, and it has made me completely redefine my notion of bad filmmaking, I am giving it the rating below.
Now, go find it, watch it, and revel in the terribleness of it.
Verdict:

4 out of 5
